The second overall pick in this year's NFL Draft is finally under contract, as the Jacksonville Jaguars announced that they've signed left tackle Luke Joeckel. The team didn't release terms of the agreement, but it's been rumored to be worth just slightly more than the deal Robert Griffin III signed with the Washington Redskins last year.

The NFL’s second overall pick signed a contract Saturday evening, but Aaron Hernandez news kept creeping up as the top headline of the day -- even though his team made waves by signing their final draft pick.

Joeckel isn’t likely going to garner a lot of headlines next season as the left tackle on what looks to be a less-than-stellar team, but the offensive tackle earned the honor of being the nation’s top offensive lineman last season when he protected Heisman winner Johnny Manziel’s blindside as a junior at Texas A&M.
Police executed a second search warrant on the home of Aaron Hernandez, the New England Patriots tight end that has come under fire this week for a murder that happened on his property.
Police reportedly removed 10 bags of evidence from Hernandez’s house, along with a box. Hernandez was present during the search, according to a report from Nick Underhill of MassLive.com, though he didn’t leave with police when their search was over.
The front office of the Patriots has apparently been able to focus on things other than the Hernandez debacle, as New England has reportedly signed second-round pick Aaron Dobson. The wide receiver was the 59th pick in this year's draft.

Now that Dobson has signed, the New England front office can turn their attention elsewhere - like perhaps what the difference is between an accomplice and an accessory, and which of those two you want to be if you are staring down the barrel of a murder trial.

Vonta Leach is probably the most talked about free agent fullback in a long time, garnering more respect from the media than anyone in recent memory other than Mike Alstott. It sounds as though he'll be in the news for a little while longer, too, as the New York Giants are pondering signing the former Baltimore Ravens blocking back.
It seems the interest in Leach is due to an injury to current fullback Henry Hynoski.
The Atlanta Falcons left minicamp with Mike Johnson, not Lamar Holmes, as the starting right tackle on their depth chart. The team spent a third-round pick on the latter, and seemed to be making room for him when they let Tyson Clabo walk, but it sounds as though Johnson is fitting better right now.
Regardless, Dave Choate at the Falcoholic believes that Holmes will eventually win the battle.
Johnson had a great reputation as a run-blocker coming out of college, where Lamar Holmes was viewed as a better pass protector, albeit one with some footwork concerns. A Johnson/Reynolds right side of the line has a chance to be pretty effective blocking up front for Steven Jackson, at least.
I remain convinced that Holmes and his towering talent will eventually win this battle, but he’s got some stiff competition in Johnson.
The right side of the line isn’t quite as big of a concern as the left side, but protecting Matt Ryan and Steven Jackson is obviously a priority across the offensive line in Atlanta.
