Instead, the team says they are "optimistic" that a deal will get done very shortly that takes the offensive tackle off the franchise tag and keeps him long-term.

If the Broncos are unable to reach a deal with Clady by Monday, he’ll instead be relegated to a one-year deal that pays him in the top five at his position.
The Dallas Cowboys had only one fullback on the roster, but they weren't too concerned about it, apparently, as they elected to release Lawrence Vickers on Friday and leave themselves without a fullback. The move was likely one that was designed to save money for the team, as releasing Vickers cleared $1.2 million in cap space for the loss of a position that has become increasingly devalued in recent years.
The Denver Broncos have an open competition for the starting running back spot following the release of Willis McGahee, and Ronnie Hillman thinks he can be the guy to fill the role. A third-round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, Hillman told the Denver Post that he thinks he can earn the spot and that he's trying to be the top running back on the depth chart come the season opener in September.
Along with Ryan Clady, offensive tackle Branden Albert has a Monday deadline to reach a deal with the Kansas City Chiefs before a one-year agreement is implemented. The Chiefs are looking to keep him long-term and are negotiating an extension, according to Albert Breer of NFL.com, despite the selection of an offensive tackle with the first-overall pick, Eric Fisher, in the 2013 NFL Draft.
