Indianapolis Colts safety Joe Lefeged was ordered released from jail on personal recognizance without bond on Tuesday morning, according to The Indianapolis Star. Lefeged was arrested by Washington, D.C., police on Friday and charged with multiple gun-related charges.

Lefeged, 25, made the Colts roster as an undrafted rookie in 2011, earning a role on special teams with the team. Although he started three games in the secondary for the Colts in 2012, Lefeged’s main role with the team has remained on special teams, where he earned team captain status during the 2012 season.

Police say they pulled over a car in which Lefeged was a passenger, but after a brief conversation with officers the car sped off. The vehicle was eventually abandoned before Lefeged and another passenger were arrested. Police say they found a gun in the car along with a receipt for its purchase in Lefeged’s name.

After Lefeged waived his preliminary hearing, his case will now be automatically referred to a grand jury, clearing the way for talks between prosecutors and his attorney.
