Oakland Raiders wide receiver Andre Holmes will miss the beginning of the 2013 season as he was issued a four-game suspension on Saturday for violation of the NFL's performance-enhancing drugs policy, according to Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun.

Holmes spent time with the Vikings, Cowboys and Patriots before joining the Raiders in May.

An undrafted free agent in 2011, Holmes bounced around on the practice squads of the Minnesota Vikings, Dallas Cowboys and New England Patriots before joining the Raiders in May. In two seasons, he has appeared in a total of seven games and recorded two career receptions.
In May, RDreamer of Silver and Black Pride broke down the play of Holmes and what he could offer the Raiders:
Holmes is known as an electric playmaker who is very difficult to cover. He is not extremely fast with a 4.5 forty time, but would be an asset as a possession receiver as he knows how to use his size to shield defenders while making tough catches over the middle. He is very athletic and is a former track star and triple jump champion. He is also enthusiastic about special teams assignments.
Holmes will be eligible to return on Week 5 when the Raiders are scheduled to have a home game against the San Diego Chargers on Oct. 6.
