"The clock starts on our '1's' in Week 2 of the preseason. So (Week 1 is) not going to be Tony's game." “Sure. I always like to play,” Romo said. “But we’ll do whatever the coach says. That’s part of being a team. We’ve got to get some guys some looks and do some things.”
Months removed from his offseason surgery to remove a cyst from his back in April, Romo likely isn’t going to miss time over the weekend due to injury, but rather because of the extra preseason exhibition that the Hall of Fame Game offers.
While 30 NFL teams will play in four preseason games, the Cowboys and Dolphins will each participate in five.
Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett previously discussed Romo’s expected involvement in the first preseason game and alluded to the fact that Romo will sit out on Sunday.
Romo finished the 2012 season with a career-high 4,903 yards passing to go with 28 touchdowns and 19 interceptions. In March, he received a seven-year contract worth $119.5 million.
