Vonta Leach rumors: Free agent FB keeps Dolphins, Ravens waiting

The three-time Pro Bowl fullback hasn’t garnered much interest on the free agency market.

USA TODAY Sports

Three-time All-Pro fullback Vonta Leach will be 32 by the end of the 2013 season and plays a position that is slowly being phased out by many NFL offenses, but he's still looking to get a sizable contract from whichever team he plays for next. According to reports, Leach has offers from both the Miami Dolphins and Baltimore Ravens, but hasn't yet picked a team as he's hoping for bigger offers.

According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, the Dolphins remain the front-runners to acquire Leach, although they’re only interested in acquiring him on a “low-money deal.” Armando Salguero of the Herald notes that the Ravens also have a offer on the table, but if Leach is leaning toward the Dolphins it would seem logical that Baltimore’s offer is also not very substantial.

Leach, 31, began his career with the Green Bay Packers after going undrafted, but didn't gain much notoriety in the NFL until his days with the Houston Texans. After paving the way for Arian Foster's Pro Bowl season in 2010, he joined the Ravens and helped Ray Rice to consecutive Pro Bowl selections in 2011 and 2012.
