On Sunday, the first week of the preseason wrapped up with the Buffalo Bills defeating the Indianapolis Colts, 44-20.
Bills vs. Colts, NFL preseason: Colts ‘terrible’ in defeat
Indianapolis didn’t get off to its desired start in a sloppy loss to Buffalo at home.
The Colts were beaten on both sides of the ball, and fans were understandably concerned from such a poor outing after last year’s playoff run. Over at Stampede Blue, Brad Wells was far from enthused about the outing:
The Colts' pass rush today was TERRIBLE. Well, maybe I can't even say that because the pass rush was almost entirely NONEXISTENT. Off the top of my head, I can only remember two times where the Colts even hit the quarterback, and both of them came from Caesar Rayford.
T.Y. Hilton was the player of the game. He caught 3 passes for 61 yards and a score, and 3 times in my notes I wrote about how T.Y. Hilton made a very nice catch. Of course, the highlight was the touchdown.
Of course, it's nothing to get overly worked up about if you root for Indy. The team has plenty of young talent, including last year's top pick in Andrew Luck, and lost a meaningless game. Yet nobody enjoys losing, especially by 24 points at home to the Bills.
After shocking the NFL with a postseason berth last year and an incredible nine-game turnaround, the Colts are looking to improve in Luck’s second year. Luckily they have another three preseason games to work out the kinks.
