Colts vs. Giants: New York fans frustrated with red zone woes

The Giants went 0-for-4 inside the red zone on Sunday night against the Colts.

Jeff Zelevansky

The New York Giants struggled on both sides of the ball during Sunday night's 20-12 loss to the Indianapolis Colts, with Eli Manning tossing one interception while the offense failed to capitalize on four red zone opportunities.

The Giants frustrated Colts quarterback Andrew Luck early on, forcing three straight incompletions to open the game, before the second-year quarterback led his team on two first-half touchdown drives. The Giants offense, meanwhile, would move the ball in spurts before breaking down in the red zone.

The result was three field goals for the Giants in the first half and an offense that struggled with Manning under center. The veteran quarterback finished 8-of-17 for 91 yards and an interception, with the Giants giving up six sacks int he game while managing just 247 yards of total offense.

Ed Valentine of Big Blue View was upsetwith the red zone struggles of the offense and singled the issue out on Sunday night:

Giants’ Red Zone Offense -- The Giants’got inside the Indianapolis 20-yard line four times, three of those with the first-team offense. They came away with three field goals and a turnover on downs when they failed to convert a fourth-and-one. Getting only 9 points out of a potential 28 is a recipe for losing football games.

The Giants next face the New York Jets on Saturday, Aug. 24.
