Tyrod Taylor injury: Ravens QB being evaluated for concussion

Tyrod Taylor was evaluated for a possible concussion Thursday night after taking a hard hit in the fourth quarter of the Ravens’ preseason loss to the Panthers.

Baltimore Ravens backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor left Thursday night's game against the Carolina Panthers with an undisclosed injury, and Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports he's been evaluated for a possible a concussion. Taylor exited the game after being hit hard by safety Mike Mitchell on a 3rd-and-7 scramble in the fourth quarter.

Taylor is currently the top backup behind starting quarterback Joe Flacco. In addition to being the first man in case of emergency, Taylor’s athleticism could also potentially give the Ravens’ offense another dimension should the team decide it needs a change of pace from the less mobile Flacco.

Taylor was 3-of-4 passing for 26 yards on Thursday, adding another 24 yards rushing on five carries. His one missed throw was an interception, however, thrown into the waiting arms of D.J. Moore, who ran the ball back for a Panthers touchdown.

Should Taylor miss Week 4 of the preseason, current third-stringer Caleb Hanie could see extensive playing time next week against the St. Louis Rams.
