Michael Bennett injury: Seahawks lineman hurts knee vs. Packers

The defensive lineman suffered an injury in the first half, though it looks like only a minor setback.

Seahawks defensive lineman Michael Bennett suffered a knee injury during the first half of Seattle's game against Green Bay on Friday night, according to Eric Williams of the Tacoma News Tribune. His return was initially considered questionable, but he was back on the field not long after hurting the knee.

It appears for now, then, that Bennett avoided a major setback. He is in his first season with Seattle after spending the first four years of his career with Tampa Bay. Bennett leveraged the best season of his career into a one-year contract with Seahawks worth $5 million.

He is also playing with a lingering shoulder injury, which hurt his value on the free-agent market. Bennett needs surgery for a torn rotator cuff, but he played through it in 2012, and he’s going to do so again in 2013, delaying the procedure until at least 2014.

Bennett has 15 career sacks and has made 28 career starts.
