Bills vs. Redskins: Rex Grossman expected to start against Buffalo

Rex Grossman will get the start in Saturday’s game with Robert Griffin III and Kirk Cousins both on the sidelines.

Rex Grossman is expected to start for the Washington Redskins during Saturday's preseason game against the Buffalo Bills, the team announced on Twitter.

Robert Griffin III isn't playing in the preseason so Kirk Cousins was starting and taking all the first-team reps. The latter suffered a mid-foot sprain in last week's game and has yet to return to practice, however, so the next man on the depth chart is the 33-year-old Grossman. Pat White is the fourth quarterback and will presumably follow Grossman as the starters are expected to only play the first 20 snaps.

Grossman was listed as a third-string quarterback last season, but he didn’t appear in a single game. He hasn’t been a starter since 2011 and might be a bigger longshot to make the final roster if Griffin and Cousins didn’t both have injury concerns.
