Cleveland Browns linebacker Barkevious Mingo will miss Week 1 against the Miami Dolphins with a bruised lung but will return for Week 2 to face the Baltimore Ravens if everything goes as planned, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Barkevious Mingo injury: Browns LB likely to return during Week 2, per report
Mingo, Cleveland’s first-round pick, should be back in mid-September to begin his NFL career.
Mingo was injured during the Browns' 24-6 win over the Detroit Lions in the second preseason game, forced to stay in the hospital overnight. Mingo hasn't played or practiced since.
Mingo will play with Paul Kruger and Jabaal Sheard as an outside linebacker, giving the Browns a strong rotation among their pass rushers. The linebackers will play behind Phil Taylor, a nasty run defender who causes a ton of problems for offensive lines.
At LSU, Mingo played defensive end in a 4-3 scheme with Sam Montgomery on the other side, forming one of the more terrifying lines in the SEC. Montgomery was drafted by the Houston Texans.
