Tim Tebow clears waivers, becomes free agent

Tim Tebow’s NFL career is on the rocks after he cleared waivers.

Quarterback Tim Tebow has cleared waivers and is now a free agent. Tebow was released by the New England Patriots in Saturday's final roster cuts.

It looks like the end of the line for Tebow, who was without a team for months after being cut the New York Jets. The Patriots decided to kick the tires on him as a backup quarterback, but he struggled in preseason and continued to show the many flaws that made most teams shy away in the first place.

Now a free agent, Tebow is unlikely to garner much interest with most teams finalizing their depth charts. The Buffalo Bills have denied showing any interest in him, and the Montreal Alouettes of the CFL say they have never had any talks with him despite holding his rights. Tebow's 2011 playoff win with the Denver Broncos may end up being the highlight of his NFL career, but he has too much media baggage and too few football skills to justify the hype. Tebowmania may very well be over.
