Jermichael Finley injury: Packers TE gets treatment on toe in Minnesota

Aaron Rodgers might be without one of his weapons against the Redskins after tight end Jermichael Finley missed practice on Wednesday.

The Green Bay Packers might be without tight end Jermichael Finley on Sunday after he missed practice on Wednesday with an injury to one of his toes, NFL.com reported on Wednesday.

Finley injured his toe early on in the Packers' loss to the 49ers in Week 1, but he ended up finishing the game. Finley missed practice and headed to Minnesota to get treatment on his toe, which was injured after 49ers linebacker Patrick Willis stepped on his leg, Dan Hanzus with NFL.com reported.

Coach Mike Mike McCarthy doesn't expect Finley to return to practice on Thursday, but Finley told the Packers' team site he expects to play on Sunday against the Redskins.

“I’ve got the mentality that I want to play,” said Finley, acknowledging that the best medicine for his sore toe is rest. “I don’t have it in my mind that I want to sit down Sunday. We have four days until Sunday, so if it’s up to me, I’m going to be out there.”

If Finley indeed sits on Sunday, Andrew Quarless and Brandon Bostick will be thrust into larger roles at tight end. Finley started out rough around the edges last Sunday, bobbling a pass that turned into Aaron Rodger's only interception of the game. He rebounded quickly after that, finishing with five catches for 56 yards and a touchdown.
