San Diego Chargers rookie inside linebacker Manti Te'o hasn't played a regular season game yet, but that streak appears to be jeopardy as he is returning to practice, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.
Manti Te’o injury: Chargers LB ready to return to practice
San Diego is getting a little healthier with Te’o returning to the field.
Te'o has been out for five weeks and in a walking boot for a majority of that time with a sprained right foot. The former Notre Dame Fighting Irish star was a second round pick of the Chargers and was expected to start immediately before going down with the injury on Aug. 8 against the Seattle Seahawks in the preseason opener.
It is unclear how much Te'o will practice Wednesday, likely depending on how much he thinks he can take on his first day back. There is no talk of whether or not he can play this Sunday when San Diego goes on the road to face the Tennessee Titans.
Last year with Notre Dame, Te’o amassed 111 tackles, 1.5 sacks and seven interceptions on the way to a berth in the National Championship Game and a runner-up voting for the Heisman Trophy.
