Browns will start Brian Hoyer vs. Bengals

The Browns will stick with Brian Hoyer for at least one more game.

Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sport

The Cleveland Browns will start Brian Hoyer at quarterback this Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals, reports Ian Rapoport of NFL.com.

Hoyer led the Browns to a last-second win over the Vikings last Sunday, tossing three touchdowns and three interceptions in the 31-27 victory. Hoyer engineered a late game-winning drive that was capped by a seven-yard touchdown pass in the final minute of regulation, securing the first win of the season for the Browns after an 0-2 start.

The Browns turned to Hoyer after starting quarterback Brandon Weeden suffered an injured thumb, and it was expected to be a one-time start for the fifth-year quarterback. Yet Hoyer was impressive, despite his mistakes, and certainly appeared to be more effective than Weeden had been through the first two weeks of the season.

Browns coach Rob Chudzinski was expected to make a decision between the two quarterbacks this week, yet says that call will be pushed back after it was determined Weeden would not have been ready to play this week.
