Tennessee Titans quarterback Jake Locker might miss 4-8 weeks with a hip injury, according to Adam Schefter. No official word has been released by the team yet, however.

Locker was injured in the third quarter on Sunday against the New York Jets when defensive lineman Muhammad Wilkerson hit him following a throw. On the way down, Locker was hit from behind by Quinton Coples before staying down and holding his hip.

Locker was carted off the field and taken to a hospital, according to The Tennessean. Ryan Fitzpatrick is the backup quarterback for Tennessee, and he could be pressed into duty for the foreseeable future.

The former Buffalo Bills, Cincinnati Bengals and St. Louis Rams signal-caller is ready to step in:

“The reason I was brought here was to help Jake out and be ready for a situation like this if it came up,” Fitzpatrick said. “If (Locker) is not in there, this is why they brought me here - no longer to tutor Jake and help him along, but to help win football games for this team.”

After replacing Locker, Fitzpatrick completed 3 of 8 passes for 108 yards and a touchdown. Locker was having a career day before getting hurt, tossing three touchdowns in the first half.
