Minnesota Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier is looking to avoid any quarterback controversy by stating that Christian Ponder is still his starter, according to Ben Goessling of ESPN. Ponder started the first three games of the season in losing efforts to the Detroit Lions, Chicago Bears and Cleveland Browns.
Vikings HC Leslie Frazier: ‘Our quarterback is Christian Ponder’
Minnesota’s head coach is doing what he can to crush any quarterback controversy.

Matt Cassel was signed to mentor Ponder as a free agent this offseason. The veteran came off the bench and beat the Pittsburgh Steelers in Ponder's absence on Sunday, throwing for 248 yards and a pair of touchdowns without an interception.
Over at the Daily Norseman, Ted Glover talks about his new found love for Cassel:
Matt Cassel looked and played like a By God NFL quarterback today. Yes, he started off slow, and was under 50% completion percentage in the first half, but he just looked and felt like the real deal today. From running the offense, to making decisions in the pocket, to getting rid of the ball, Cassel completely out performed my expectations of him. And I loved it. Is Matt Cassel the long term answer? No, he’s not. Right now, do I care? No, I don’t.
Ponder is out with a broken rib. When he comes back, though, the pressure will be on to win immediately. The Vikings have a bye week coming up so Ponder will have plenty of time to rest before having to take the field again, likely against the Carolina Panthers.
