Cowboys vs. Chargers 2013: Philip Rivers ‘fantastic’ in win

Dallas was upset in San Diego despite leading at halftime.

Robert Hanashiro-USA TODAY

The San Diego Chargers evened their record with a 30-21 upset win at Qualcomm Stadium over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.

San Diego looked to be in trouble, trailing 21-10 following a Sean Lee interception and return for a touchdown right before halftime. However, the Chargers would turn the game around from there, scoring 20 unanswered points in victory.

Philip Rivers had a big day against a suspect Dallas defense, throwing for 401 yards and a trio of touchdowns. Over at Bolts From The Blue, John Gennaro talked about Rivers’ big day:

Holy crap, Philip Rivers is good. He finished Sunday's win with 401 passing yards, completing over 83% of his passes and throwing 3 touchdowns and only 1 interception (a tipped pass). He was fantastic in the second half, keeping the defense off the field and scoring points in dominating fashion.

Dallas is stuck going back to the drawing board. The Cowboys have looked very good in a few games but have been every bit as disappointing in the others. Currently, Dallas is 2-2 and now goes home to play the Denver Broncos, a task of epic proportions for any team.

Tom Ryle of Blogging The Boys writes about the lackluster NFC East and the Cowboys’ chances within it:

For the next twelve weeks the Cowboys have to make sure they can stay in the mix and not let losses start piling up. If they can, and that is a huge if, the weakness of the division may work to their advantage.
