LeGarrette Blount ties Patriots record vs. Colts

A strong running game from LeGarrette Blount is giving the Colts trouble.

SB Nation 2014 NFL Playoff Coverage

New England Patriots running back LeGarrette Blount might only have nine carries, but he's making them count against the Indianapolis Colts in Saturday's Divisional round game.

Just over five minutes remain in the first half and Blount has already scored three rushing touchdowns, which ties a Patriots team record for a single postseason game. The Colts are doing a good job stopping Blount outside of the red zone, but have no answer for him inside of it -- they’ve allowed a trio of two-yard scores.

The Patriots have used a consistent attack to jump out to an early 14-point lead. It involves utilizing Julian Edelman and Danny Amendola on crossing routes with an emphasis on yards after the catch, then transitioning to a North-South running game where Blount becomes the focus.

This offensive approach is turning the Saturday night playoff game into a shootout, and it’s unclear whether or not the Colts have enough reliable receivers to keep up.
