NFL teams searching for new head coaches are continuing to turn toward coaches who already failed once as head coaches in the NFL.
NFL news roundup: Lions, Vikings closing in on new coaches
The dust is finally starting to settle from all the NFL coaching rumors of the last few weeks.

The Tennessee Titans have reportedly hired Ken Whisenhunt to be their next head coach. Whisenhunt led the Arizona Cardinals to the Super Bowl during the 2008 season and won a Super Bowl as the offensive coordinator of the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2005.
He was fired by the Cardinals after the 2012 season but latched on as the offensive coordinator of the San Diego Chargers. The Chargers were one of the surprise stories of the 2013 season, and Whisenhunt benefited by moving back up the coaching ladder.
The Titans aren’t the only team going after a coach with head coaching experience, either.
While many teams hired first-time head coaches last season, it's second-chance head coaches who are getting the looks this season. After missing out on Whisenhunt, the Detroit Lions have reportedly zeroed in on former Colts head coach Jim Caldwell and former Titans head coach Mike Munchak. The Lions' roster is ready to compete for a division championship, but Jim Schwartz had just worn out his welcome.
As the dominos continue to fall around the league, a few teams are still left without a head coach. Cincinnati Bengals defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer reportedly had his second interview with the Minnesota Vikings on Monday for their head coaching vacancy. Multiple outlets are suggesting Zimmer is the favorite for the position.
On a radio show Monday, Bengals offensive coordinator Hue Jackson talked about how big a fan he is of upcoming free agent running back Darren McFadden. He may have been in violation of the NFL's tampering policy given the specific detail he went into regarding his interest in the running back.
