Super Bowl 2014 schedule: Broncos, Seahawks set for crazy media coverage before the big game

The game is set for Sunday, Feb. 2 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. There’s a lot of talk about it potentially being a cold weather Super Bowl given the venue, which does add an interesting layer to things. Not that a game between the two best teams in the NFL (they are both No. 1 seeds in their respective conference) needs other layers to be interesting.

Super Bowl XLVIII will be broadcast on FOX and is set to begin at 6:25 p.m. ET. That’s provided the National Anthem doesn’t run long, though we don’t currently know who will be doing the honors. The halftime show though, that will be provided by Bruno Mars -- just in case you haven’t heard that commercial enough to be sick of it already -- joined by the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

The NFL is going all-out with events surrounding the big game. They’ll have a “Super Bowl Boulevard” engineered by GMC. That will span 13 blocks and include multiple shops and places to spend your money, but also a “Super Bowl Virtual Theater,” whatever that is, autographs, a concert stage, a giant Toboggan Run for some reason, and a whole lot more.

Then of course, there’s Media Day. The grandest of Super Bowl traditions will be on Tuesday, Jan. 28 at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. Fans will be able to attend media day and watch the giant circus. Both teams will have players and coaches available to the media and the coverage will be extensive, as always.

Other than that, there’s probably a million things to do around the area during Super Bowl week if you happen to be there.
