Adrian Peterson injury: Vikings RB has surgery, expected to recover in 6 weeks
The All-Pro running back had successful groin surgery on Thursday and shouldn’t miss any vital offseason activities.

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson has elected to have surgery on his groin, according to Josina Anderson of ESPN. Peterson will have the surgery "in the very near future," according to the report.
Peterson was set to see specialist Dr. William Meyers in Philadelphia on Wednesday, which led to the decision to opt for surgery. The injury is considered minor, but it, along with a foot injury, forced Peterson to the sideline for two games this season. He will also miss the Pro Bowl due to the injury.
Meyers was the one who performed Peterson’s sports hernia surgery last offseason. Peterson made a full and speedy recovery from that surgery, and this one isn’t expected to put him out of it for long, either.
Peterson had what many called a “down season” despite the fact that he put up 1,266 yards and 10 touchdowns. It’s only a down season in comparison to his 2012 season, in which he had 2,097 yards and 12 touchdowns, coming just short of breaking the single season record for rushing yardage.
His exact recovery time for this operation is unclear.
