Adam Gase waiting for ‘right time’ to be NFL head coach

Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Adam Gase is concentrating on the Super Bowl for now, and will consider the shift to a head coaching job at “the right time.”

Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Adam Gase is waiting for "the right time" to make the transition to head coach, as noted by Marc Sessler of NFL.com. Gase recently turned down an interview with the Cleveland Browns, electing to concentrate on the upcoming Super Bowl matchup against the Seattle Seahawks.

It’s hard to blame Gase as he prepares to face one of the best and most complex defenses in the NFL. Despite being the coordinator of the most productive offense in NFL history, Gase should have his hands full Sunday.

Gase said that he “didn’t really think about it,” regarding the possibility of becoming a head coach “until it came up this year.” He said that with the timing and the Super Bowl, he wanted to focus on the game and that the head coaching stuff is “on the backburner for me.”

The decision makes sense for Gase, not just because of the Super Bowl. The Browns job was the only position open late into the NFL hiring season, and it was not exactly the most sought-after destination in the NFL.

With another productive year from Peyton Manning along with a potential Super Bowl title to his name, Gase could have the pick of any team that needs a coach next year. In addition, another solid year could net him more money during contract talks.
