Jeremy Maclin hopes to return to Eagles

After missing the year because of injury, Maclin wants to return to the city of brotherly love.

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Jeremy Maclin missed the 2013 season with a torn ACL. His rookie contract with the team expires this spring, but he'd like to stick around for another shot with the team that drafted him.

Maclin is hoping he can come back to the Eagles without having to shop his services, according to Philly.com. Maclin has been one of the most prolific receivers in franchise history through his first four seasons, setting a team record in that span with 258 catches.

However, Maclin was not especially missed this season with the emergence of Riley Cooper and the continued production of Jason Avant and DeSean Jackson. Philadelphia has about $20 million in cap space and needs to get better on defense. General manager Howie Roseman seems very interested in retaining Maclin, saying "the door is open" when asked about retaining him.

Cooper is also scheduled for free agency this spring.

Maclin expressed acceptance of perhaps signing a one-year deal to prove his health before hitting the free agent market with considerably more leverage. The 25-year-old had only missed five games in the previous four season combined, while hauling in 26 touchdowns and 3,453 yards.
