NFL Playoff picks and predictions: Chargers vs. Broncos 2014
Experts heavily favor the Denver Broncos over the San Diego Chargers. Nobody is shocked.

The Denver Broncos will host their AFC West rivals the San Diego Chargers in the Divisional round of the 2013 NFL Playoffs. Denver is the No. 1 seed in the AFC with a 13-3 record, including a 7-1 mark at home. San Diego holds a 9-7 regular season season with a 4-4 record on the road, but has been on fire lately.
Nobody expected the Chargers to make the playoffs. They needed help in Week 17, but the Chargers bested the Kansas City Chiefs in overtime while the other teams that needed to lose ... lost. Then they went into Cincinnati and dominated the Bengals in the Wild Card round.
The Chargers won four consecutive games to wrap up the regular season, and one of those games was a 27-20 victory over the Broncos ... in Denver. It was Denver’s only home loss of the season. The Broncos bested the Chargers in San Diego just five weeks prior.
Still, the Broncos are heavy favorites, on the books and by the experts. Of SB Nation’s panel of six NFL experts, five are picking the Broncos to win. Matt Ufford, Ryan Van Bibber, Joel THorman, Jason Chilton and David Fucillo all think the Broncos will win. Stephen White is the lone dissenter picking San Diego.
Over at CBS Sports, there is a similar spread. Of the eight experts picking, seven went with the Broncos to win at home, including Pete Prisco and Will Brinson. The lone dissenter to pick the Chargers was Jason La Canfora.
