Watch Peyton Manning’s postgame interview after breaking the TD record

The Broncos QB was humble and was more comfortable talking about his team. Are you surprised?

Peyton Manning stepped off the field following his big Sunday Night Football win over the San Francisco 49ers and despite breaking the NFL all-time touchdown record he remained stoic and showed little emotion.

Speaking to Michele Tafoya the Broncos quarterback downplayed the importance of his personal record and talked up his team. He said that preparation made the difference:

“We had a good week of practice. Both sides of the ball really came out.”

Naturally the attention turned to his newly-forged NFL record for the most touchdowns thrown by a quarterback:

“It’s quite an honor. I have great appreciation for the quarterbacks that have played this game throughout the years. It’s very humbling and it took a lot of hard work. Football is the ultimate team game.”

Regarding the man Manning passed, he said he will call Brett Favre, and that he's "honored" to join the club with the former Packers great.

The Denver Broncos had a small prank they played on their quarterback following his record-breaking touchdown, playing a game of keep-away with the veteran QB. There were reports it was staged, but Manning played coy if that was the plan:

“I heard a little whisper about that, but i didn’t know they were actually going to do that. That’s not fair. They’re all great athletes and I couldn’t get the ball from them. My vertical isn’t what it used to be, Michele. I haven’t played keep-away since i was a kid.”

There’s no question that the Sunday night win over the 49ers will be remembered as a great moment in a stellar career. Football fans will now wait to watch the final act and see him eventually be enshrined in Canton.
