Led by rookie quarterback Derek Carr, the Raiders will travel into hostile territory to try to overcome odds that are stacked firmly against them. The win column may not be their friend, but the betting lines give bettors who side with them a glimmer of hope.
Cleveland is 3-2-1 against the spread, and when it comes to its chances straight up, the Raiders can’t be counted out just because they have yet to win a game this season. After all, the Browns are coming off a loss to the previously winless Jaguars.
The Raiders have been solid against the spread with an 8-3 record in their last 11 games as a road underdog despite a 1-10 overall record in that span. Cleveland brings a 14th-ranked scoring offense to face the Raiders’ 25th-ranked defensive unit.
The experts are decidedly in the home team’s favor. CBS Sports scores it 6-2 for the Browns while ESPN’s experts echo the same sentiment and pick this one a Cleveland sweep by a margin of 13-0.
