C.J. Mosley suspended 2 weeks by Lions

The Lions defensive tackle was sent home from London before the Lions’ game against the Atlanta Falcons.

The Detroit Lions have suspended defensive tackle C.J. Mosley for two weeks, according to Tim Twentyman of the team's official website. The suspension is for conduct detrimental to the team and a violation of team rules.

It’s unclear what the violation was at this point, but Mosley was sent home from London early on Saturday and was placed on the reserve/suspended list, which opened up a roster spot, as reported by Twentyman in a pair of Tweets.

Detroit is set to play the Atlanta Falcons early on Sunday in London, but it's worth noting that the team has a bye week in Week 9. Given that he's being suspended for two weeks instead of two games, he should be back in time to take on the Miami Dolphins in Week 10, provided nothing escalates from here.

Mosley hasn't produced much this season, with 11 total tackles and 2.5 sacks on the season. He's in the final year of a two-year deal and is set to be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season. Detroit also has its top two defensive tackles on expiring contracts in Ndamukong Suh and Nick Fairley.
