Romo went down hard after being sacked for the fourth time, and he stayed down for some time. He eventually got up and left the field accompanied by the training staff.
Tony Romo returns after suffering back injury on Monday Night Football
Tony Romo sustained an injury and left the game against Washington on Monday. He came back with two minutes left in the fourth quarter.

Backup Brandon Weeden entered as with Washington leading 10-7 in the third quarter. Romo had completed 13 of 21 passes for 183 yards and a touchdown before going down with the injury. Dallas lost a total of 47 yards on the four sacks allowed. Coming into the game, the Cowboys had been doing relatively fine against the pass rush, as Romo had been sacked just 12 times.
Romo has a history of back injuries, and he’s often listed on the injury report with a back injury thanks to the fact that Dallas often has him inactive for Wednesday practices. Romo sustained a back injury in 2013 and missed the final regular season game after undergoing surgery just two days before that game. He also had a minor procedure done to remove a cyst from his back in the offseason, and missed some time during organized team activities.
Weeden is taking his first snaps of the regular season for Dallas. He’s the only backup on the roster and was brought in this past offseason on a two-year deal.
