Texans vs. Cowboys picks and predictions 2014: Who do the experts like in Lone Star State showdown?

Can the Cowboys keep the momentum in their favor with a win against their in-state rival?

Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

The Dallas Cowboys have impressed both Las Vegas and NFL analysts this season with a 3-1 record against the spread and overall. Now, they'll face the in-state rival Houston Texans to see which team can continue its surprising run toward the playoffs.

According to the folks over at OddsShark, Jason Garrett was the favorite among prop bettors to be the first head coach to be fired this season. Instead, they're rolling behind a surprising defense and efficient running game to complement a healthy Tony Romo and the passing attack.

Houston comes in with the sixth-ranked defense in terms of points allowed. The team will have to deal with DeMarco Murray and Dez Bryant applying pressure.

Since the Cowboys are at home and seem to be clicking in every facet of the game, they enter this matchup as 7-point favorites. The O/U is situated at 47 with 56 percent of the action as of Thursday leaning toward the over.

This figures to be a high-scoring affair and will test both defenses.

SB Nation’s panel of experts have the Cowboys coming out on top by a margin of 5-2. If history is any indicator, Dallas has a slight edge because of its 2-1 head-to-head record in the all-time series. In those contests, they’ve averaged 23.67 points against Houston’s 12.67.

Among other experts across other major platforms, Dallas earns a clean sweep with ESPN, CBS Sports and Yahoo Sports each tabbing the ‘Boys as winners on Sunday.
