The Kansas City Chiefs (2-2) are fresh off a dismantling of the New England Patriots, but a repeat performance on the road against the 2-2 San Francisco 49ers will prove much tougher. Both the Chiefs and the 49ers have flashed good things this season, while putting in similarly baffling performances.

The Chiefs are riding high after a big Monday night win, but they’ll be tested against the 49ers, who are coming off a big win of their own.

The Chiefs' win last Monday was about as impressive a performance as you will ever see. Kansas City dominated every facet of the game and looked especially potent on offense. Jamaal Charles scored three touchdowns and accumulated more than 100 total yards, allowing fantasy owners everywhere to rejoice. But the win was also a coming-out party for tight end Travis Kelce, who caught eight passes for 93 yards and a score.
The Chiefs were firing on all cylinders against New England and proved, when healthy, that they are still a force to be reckoned with. But Sunday will prove whether Kansas City can truly turn itself into a bona fide contender.
The 49ers are still working out some kinks early in the season. But a dominating defensive performance against the Philadelphia Eagles last week might be a sign that everything is coming together. Frank Gore remains as dependable as ever. He tore up Philadelphia for 119 yards on the ground, adding another 55 receiving yards and a touchdown.
San Francisco gives up the second-fewest yards per game in the NFL, limiting teams to just under 70 rushing yards per game. Charles and the Chiefs will certainly have their work cut out for them.
