Adrian Peterson to plead not guilty to child abuse charges
Adrian Peterson will plead not guilty to felony child abuse charges at an arraignment Wednesday. He has been all but ruled out for the 2014 season with a trial not expected to begin until 2015.

Peterson's legal team does not expect the running back to go to trial before 2015, which means that the Minnesota Vikings running back is likely finished for the season. He was placed on the exempt/commissioner's permission list, which amounts to a paid leave of absence. He cannot return to play until given permission by Roger Goodell, with the implication that the league would like to see the legal process run its course.
Peterson has been staying at his home outside Houston since being deactivated, then given leave by the Vikings after Week 2. He will go to a courtroom in Conroe, Texas, at 9 a.m. CT for his arraignment. The Pioneer Press reports that six media outlets have already applied to have their cameras placed in the room.
The impending arraignment stems from an incident this summer. Peterson stands accused of recklessly beating his four-year-old son with a switch. Photos from the incident showed bruising and lacerations across the child’s skin.
Peterson was also the subject of a Minneapolis Star-Tribune report released Monday detailing rape accusations against the running back, as well as potential evidence that funds were not accounted for from his charity.
