Bengals vs. Saints 2014 picks and predictions: New Orleans a heavy favorite at home

The high-octane offense New Orleans brings to the table could be no match for the struggling Bengals on Sunday. See how the experts scored it.

Chuck Cook-USA TODAY Sports

The Cincinnati Bengals need a win in the worst way, and the New Orleans Saints will do everything in their power to prevent it from coming at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on Sunday afternoon.

Quarterback Andy Dalton had a historically bad effort in his last outing. It was so ugly that it sent the Internet into a frenzy and inspired fodder for a wonderful viral video creation involving the signal caller. Dalton finished the game 10 of 33 for 86 yards and three interceptions to post a dismal 1.96 quarterback rating.

On the other side, Drew Brees has been mostly spectacular, though the Saints are coming off a devastating 27-24 loss to the San Francisco 49ers in which the quarterback threw for 292 yards and three touchdowns against two interceptions. He lost a critical fumble on a sack in overtime that eventually cost them the game.

The folks at OddsShark still like the Saints by an 8-point margin at home, however. The Saints are averaging 304.78 yards per game through the air against 248.89 yards per game allowed by the Bengals’ pass defense. Though the passing attack gets all the pub for New Orleans, the rushing offense ranks fifth at home while the Bengals are 30th in stopping the run on the road to the tune of 160.67 yards per game.

Consequently, the Yahoo Sports team likes the Saints to come out on top, while the ESPN panel has a similar feeling by an 11-2 mark among its experts. CBS Sports comes in with an 8-0 landslide in favor of the Saints.

SB Nation's panel echoes the same sentiment with an 8-0 aggregate pick in New Orleans' favor.
