Lions vs. Cardinals 2014 picks and predictions: Detroit picked to win in the desert

Two division leaders will meet in Arizona, but most experts are giving the Lions the edge on the road.

Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

The Detroit Lions travel to the desert to take on the Arizona Cardinals in a Week 11 game that has major implications for both teams. According to OddsShark, the matchup is even money, with the over/under set at 41.

Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer is out for the season after tearing his ACL in Week 10. That means Drew Stanton will be at the helm in his place. Now, Arizona has to figure out how to maintain its first-place footing in the competitive NFC West without their leader. That means Andre Ellington and the run game will likely be featured against the Lions' vaunted front seven.

Not without injuries of their own, the Lions lost linebacker Stephen Tulloch for the year and will once again be without defensive tackle Nick Fairley on the inside. Detroit has still managed to rank first in yards per game allowed with 283.4 per contest. The Cardinals rank No. 24 on offense with 330.9 yards per game.

Yahoo Sports' two-man panel has the Lions winning on the road, while ESPN's group of 13 has the Lions coming out with a win by a lean 7-6 margin. CBS Sports rounds out the group with a 6-2 Detroit favoring.

SB Nation's own panel sides with the majority and has the Lions taking the game. Only PFT Commenter sees the Cardinals hanging on despite a key injury at quarterback.
