Adrian Peterson is working toward a plea agreement on child abuse charges that could be reached as early as Tuesday, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Adrian Peterson nearing plea agreement, per report
Adrian Peterson’s representation is reportedly nearing a plea agreement to resolve his child abuse charges.

Schefter reported on ESPN’s Sunday NFL Countdown that Peterson’s representation has been working toward an agreement that is expected to be set this week. Peterson was indicted for reckless or negligent injury to a child on Sept. 12 and was subsequently placed on the commissioner’s exempt list on Sept. 17.
Peterson still remains on the exempt list and it’s unclear when he would be eligible to return to work.
Schefter reports that the plea agreement would be the first step in Peterson's reinstatement into the NFL. The league has remained unwilling to allow Peterson to return to the Vikings as long as the charges are outstanding. With the unprecedented nature of the situation remaining a factor, Schefter says that his reinstatement is still questionable. But a plea agreement would be a necessary occurrence for discussions of a return to begin.
