The Kansas City Chiefs and Oakland Raiders both started the season 0-2. Since then, the Chiefs have won seven of their past eight games while the Raiders have yet to notch a victory. Still, this is one of the most passionate rivalries in the NFL, leveling the playing field somewhat for these two AFC West foes.
‘Thursday Night Football’ live stream: How to watch Chiefs vs. Raiders 2014 online
One of the oldest rivalries in football gets renewed with the surging Chiefs taking on the winless Raiders under the lights.

Kansas City comes into Week 12 as one of the hottest teams in the NFL. The Chiefs dispatched the Seattle Seahawks in Arrowhead Stadium last week, earning a hard-fought 24-20 win. Coupled with the Broncos' surprising loss against the Rams, Kansas City is tied atop the division and faces Denver in Week 13 on Sunday Night Football. All of those factors make Thursday against the Raiders the ultimate trap game, something Andy Reid has to prepare his team for.
Jamaal Charles is the engine that makes Kansas City go, and he proved it again last Sunday. Charles faced down Seattle's fourth-ranked rushing defense, gaining 159 yards and scoring twice on 20 carries. Charles, who became the franchise's all-time leading rusher earlier this season, has 692 rushing yards on 5.2 yards per carry in 2014. Dwayne Bowe remains the top outside threat for the Chiefs, but he only has 509 receiving yards and no touchdowns. Bowe needs 90 yards to hit the 7,000-yard mark for his career, joining Otis Taylor and Tony Gonzalez as the only players to do so in Kansas City.
Oakland is desperately trying to avoid becoming the third team since the AFL-NFL merger to go without a win or tie, joining the ranks of the 1976 Tampa Bay Buccaneers and 2008 Detroit Lions. The Raiders have been competitive, losing a pair of close games against the Chargers and a heartbreaker in Foxboro to the Patriots. Oakland has gone through massive upheaval, firing Dennis Allen after Week 4 before promoting Tony Sparano to interim head coach.
The Raiders have several promising young players, including linebacker Khalil Mack and quarterback Derek Carr. Carr leads all rookies in passing yards (2,075) and touchdowns (13) with nine interceptions, despite no viable weapons. Mack registered his first NFL sack on Sunday, and leads the team with 11 tackles for loss. Of many issues, the largest is the running game which is averaging 63 yards per game, the lowest figure since the 1940s.
