New York governor believes Bills game ‘impractical’

Buffalo is having all kinds of issues with massive snowfall, and it could force the Bills and Jets to postpone their game on Sunday.

The Buffalo Bills and New York Jets are scheduled to play a football game Sunday afternoon at Ralph Wilson Stadium, but it is becoming more unlikely that will happen. New York governor Andrew Cuomo called the notion of playing Sunday "impractical," per NBC News. Cuomo says the state will do everything possible to make the game happen, but it will not risk public safety, per Mike Rodak of ESPN.

Buffalo has been blanketed by snow this week, with more than six feet falling on the area, responsible for eight deaths and leaving the city in a state of emergency. With so much taking place in terms of emergency snow removal around Buffalo, Erie County executive Mark Poloncarz stated he can not commit emergency personnel to the game, per Rodak.

Ralph Wilson Stadium has been buried under snow, forcing the Bills to ask for help from citizens. On Wednesday, the team offered $10 per hour and tickets to the game for those willing to come down and help shovel out. Incredibly, there is an estimated 440,000 pounds of snow in the building.

All of the snow has forced a driving ban on the city, not allowing the Bills to practice again Thursday, per Pro Football Talk. The team has been receiving game plans electronically with the players and coaches snowed in.

Should the game be postponed, it would not be the first time due to weather. Back in 2010, the Philadelphia Eagles were forced to host a Tuesday night game against the Minnesota Vikings after the city was bombarded with snow.
