Washington has a difficult task ahead as it travels to the Bay Area to take on Colin Kaepernick and the San Francisco 49ers. At 3-7, its playoff chances are slim, and turmoil surrounds the field of play as head coach Jay Gruden has voiced his public displeasure with the play of quarterback Robert Griffin III.
Washington vs. 49ers live stream 2014: Time, TV schedule, radio and how to watch online
The 49ers look to keep their playoff push going with a win over Washington.
With reports of locker room discord of its own, San Francisco has managed to string together consecutive road wins against the New Orleans Saints and New York Giants before returning to the friendly confines of its brand new home.
The 49ers hope the homecoming is the start of a winning stretch that vaults them into the postseason. Their 6-4 record is a disappointment considering losses to the likes of the Chicago Bears and St. Louis Rams, two teams with a combined 8-12 record.
However, San Francisco has some impressive wins on its resume, including home victories over the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles. The 49ers have been erratic at times, but they can probably afford to not play their best game and still beat Washington. That's just how bad the NFC East bottom-feeders are playing right now.
The matchup to watch in this game will be Washington's No. 7 passing offense going against San Francisco's No. 4 pass defense. Between Colt McCoy, Kirk Cousins and Griffin, Washington's offense has relied heavily on the pass, and that's not going to change against the 49ers.
