NFL picks and predictions, Raiders vs. Chiefs 2014: Oakland unlikely to get 2nd straight upset

The Raiders beat the 49ers in Week 14. Now, they’ll look to parlay that success as a spoiler in a division game on the road.

The Oakland Raiders defeated the Kansas City Chiefs in a shocking upset on Nov. 20. Now, the 2-11 squad will look to do it again in hostile territory when they travel to Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday. Kansas City is 4-1 in its last five home games, though, and the oddsmakers at OddShark aren't giving the Silver and Black much of a shot as 11.5-point underdogs.

Both offenses have struggled to move the chains over the course of the season. The Chiefs are averaging 318 yards per contest, ranking 26th in the league. The Raiders are dead last with a paltry 283.8. The biggest disparity lies in the defense, where the Raiders have been among the worst at getting stops with an average of 26.9 points per game allowed to opponents. Kansas City is miles ahead, giving up a fourth-best average of 18.5 points per game.

With a home-field advantage, it's not difficult to see why Alex Smith and his middling offense should be able to overcome the Raiders' struggling unit. Oakland has yet to notch a road win, and the Chiefs are still in the hunt for a playoff berth in the wide-open AFC.

There’s only one lone wolf among ESPN’s 13 experts who thinks the Raiders can pull off a second major upset in as many weeks (appropriately, the pick comes from former Raiders defensive player of the year Eric Allen). Yahoo Sports scores it a Kansas City sweep, while the team at CBS favors the home squad by a 7-1 margin.

SB Nation has a similar collective opinion, with all seven panelists and the OddsShark computer going the Chiefs' way:
