Former NFL safety Darren Sharper indicted on 2 rape charges in New Orleans

Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports

Former NFL safety Darren Sharper and two others have been indicted on two rape charges in New Orleans, according to Ken Daley of NOLA.com.

Sharper has been under investigation for multiple crimes since February when he was charged with drugging and raping a pair of women in Los Angeles. At that time, he was also being investigated for rapes in Arizona, Louisiana and Nevada.

Sharper’s alleged Los Angeles incidents are very similar, with the first coming in late 2013 and the second happening at the beginning of 2014. Reportedly, Sharper brought women to his hotel room when they were served shots of alcohol laced with Ambien and morphine. Once they passed out, Sharper allegedly sexually assaulted them.

Sharper was fired by NFL Network in late February after being suspended following an arrest for drug possession in January. Sharper had been with the media outlet since 2011, one year after his retirement from the NFL. During his career, Sharper played with the Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings and New Orleans Saints.

As a player, Sharper played from 1997-2010 and was named an All-Pro six times and made five Pro Bowls, ending his career with 63 interceptions.
