Cincinnati vs. Cleveland greatly impacted the ultra-competitive AFC North, but let’s be honest, you didn’t watch for the playoff implications. You tuned in for Johnny.
NFL scores and results: Broncos, Seahawks big winners Sunday afternoon
The Broncos got a key road win to clinch their division during the late afternoon games. In Seattle, the Seahawks beat the 49ers for a second time this season. Sunday’s results below.
Johnny Manziel made his long-awaited first NFL start on Sunday, a pivotal game for a reeling Browns team that sits a game and a half behind the Bengals for the division lead. Mike Pettine and his staff toyed with the idea of starting Manziel last week after a successful relief outing against the Bills, but ultimately went back to Brian Hoyer. That decision looks a little more justified now as Manziel went just 10 of 18 for 80 yards and two picks.
Believe it or not, though, there’s more to Sunday than just Johnny Football. The biggest matchup came on Sunday Night Football where the Dallas Cowboys improved to 10-4 and moved into the driver’s seat in the NFC East race. Dallas jumped out to a 21-0 lead and while the Eagles rallied, Dez Bryant and Tony Romo put Dallas up for good.
The Packers dropped a crucial game to Buffalo that greatly diminishes their chances of a first-round bye. Aaron Rodgers completed a highly irregular 17 of his 42 passes. He was also intercepted twice. The Bills, now 8-6, keep their playoff hopes alive with the win.
Elsewhere, the Broncos clinched the AFC West with a win over the Chargers. The Lions kept themselves in the playoff chase by beating the Vikings in Detroit.
