The Dallas Cowboys are hopeful that running back DeMarco Murray will be able to play on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts at AT&T Stadium, despite a broken bone in his hand, per Ed Werder of ESPN.
Cowboys believe DeMarco Murray can play Sunday
DeMarco Murray underwent surgery to repair a broken bone in his hand Monday, but still could be available to face the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.

Werder notes that the full recovery time is six weeks, but Murray won't face any additional risk by playing with it and that the pain is manageable. Murray broke the fourth metacarpal in his left hand on Sunday Night Football against the Philadelphia Eagles and had a pin inserted on Monday, giving many pause on his availability.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said during a radio interview with 105.3 The Fan that Murray’s availability isn’t “unrealistic,” and that he will likely be a game-time decision, via ProFootballTalk.com:
”I don’t think we’d have to see him practice. I think it’s more a question of the condition of the hand at game time and what we can do to protect it,” Jones said. “I think it’s one of those that you’d like to wait and see how he’s feeling just right before the game.”
The Cowboys sit at 10-4 and as leaders of the NFC East, although a loss this week or next could put Dallas on the outside of the playoff picture. Murray has had a tremendous season, rushing for a league-high 1,687 rushing yards on 4.8 yards per carry with 11 touchdowns.
Should Murray not be able to play, the rushing duties would fall on Lance Dunbar and Joseph Randle, who have run for a combined 328 yards and two scores this season.
