The New England Patriots currently sit at 11-3 as the top seed in the AFC. With two more wins, the Patriots will retain home-field advantage throughout the entire postseason. Considering New England is undefeated at Gillette Stadium this season, it would be a major perk going into January. Sunday's game against the miserable New York Jets is one of the few remaining obstacles.
Patriots vs. Jets 2014 picks and predictions: New England expected to roll
Despite the Jets’ 3-11 mark, the game will likely prove to be a tough out for Bill Belichick’s team. The Jets always play the Patriots tough. Last season, the Jets won at MetLife Stadium, while earlier this season, they came within a blocked field goal of winning in Foxboro. With Rex Ryan likely at the end of his six-year tenure, the players will be fighting hard to give their coach a proper sendoff.
Still it’s hard to find anyone who wants to actually pick the Jets. Over at CBS Sports, all eight experts picked the Patriots to improve to 12-3. However, half the men picked New York to cover the 10.5-point spread. The seven analysts of USA Today also believe in New England, with two making it the lock of the week. It was a clean sweep at ESPN, with the 13 men all siding with the Patriots.
Here at SB Nation, our expert panel followed suit and picked Tom Brady and company to clinch a first-round bye this weekend.
