Detroit Lions All-Pro defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh avoided a suspension when his one-game ban for stepping on the leg of Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers was successfully appealed on Tuesday. The excuse he used to convince the NFL that the step was an accident? His feet were numb and he couldn't tell the difference between the ground and Rodgers' leg, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Seriously.
Suh also won his appeal because the league didn't view him as a repeat offender. He has a history of player-safety violations -- including a two-game suspension in 2011 for stomping on Packers guard Evan Dietrich-Smith -- but according to the NFL collective bargaining agreement, players are not considered repeat offenders if they do not commit a violation for 32 straight games. Before Sunday, Suh had gone 33 games without a player-safety violation, barely getting him over the line.
Lambeau Field was frigid on Sunday, with the wind chill putting the temperature in the teens at kickoff, but Suh should still feel lucky that the NFL is allowing him to play against the Dallas Cowboys in the first round of the playoffs.
