The Arizona Cardinals began the season 9-1 and had a strong grip on the NFC's top seed. Only two weeks later, the Cardinals are 9-3 and looking at the possibility of losing first place in the NFC West with a loss this week against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Chiefs vs. Cardinals 2014: Online streaming, time and TV schedule
Arizona and Kansas City are both on losing streaks and need to break through before it is too late.
Arizona has struggled offensively since Carson Palmer went down with a torn ACL three weeks ago. Drew Stanton has come in and not been able to move the football, only producing one touchdown over the past two games. Stanton is also very inaccurate, employing the worst completion percentage of any qualifying quarterback at 55.3 percent. With running back Andre Ellington a game-time decision due to a severe hip pointer, Marion Grice could be the featured back. The Cardinals have struggled to run even with Ellington, ranking 31st in rushing yards per game.
Kansas City is sitting at 7-5 and on the outside of the AFC playoff picture. For the Chiefs, they will rely on a daunting pass rush and Jamaal Charles to lead the way. Charles has rushed for 803 yards on 5.0 yards per carry, continuing his underrated career. Of any qualifying running back, Charles is the NFL's all-time leader in yards/attempt at 5.5, better than Jim Brown's 5.2.
Defensively, Kansas City is top-ranked against the pass in large part because of Justin Houston. Houston is leading the league with 14 sacks, while Tamba Hali, Dontari Poe and Allen Bailey have combined for another 14. The run defense is another story, checking in 32nd at 4.9 yards per rush allowed. Last week, the Broncos rushed for 215 yards in a 29-16 win.
