49ers vs. Raiders 2014: Online streaming, time and TV schedule

Yes, Oakland will probably get pummeled. But with blossoming star Latavius Murray returning to the lineup, don’t count out the Raiders quite yet.

The Raiders are exactly the kind of gimme game that the 49ers need right now, as San Francisco finds itself in danger of falling out of the playoff race. The only problem is, Oakland isn't exactly a gimme.

Sure, the Raiders are a miserable 1-11, and sure, they got annihilated 52-0 in St. Louis last week by a bad Rams team. But keep in mind that the last time Oakland played a home game against a playoff contender, the Chiefs limped out of a rain-soaked O.co Coliseum with a shocking 24-20 loss. The Raiders rode the first-half heroics of out-of-nowhere star Latavius Murray to an early lead and held off a Kansas City rally to notch their first mark in the win column, and it's not completely inconceivable that they'll do it again against the Niners.

Oakland’s offense reverted to its state of putridity against the Rams without Murray, who suffered a concussion just before halftime against the Chiefs. But the second-year running back, who torched KC’s strong run defense for 112 yards and two touchdowns on just four carries, has been cleared to return to the lineup this Sunday and could test a Niners defense that gave up 157 yards on the ground in a critical loss to Seattle last week.

No, Murray is no Marshawn Lynch, and no, the Raiders' O-line is nothing close to the Seahawks' O-line. Not to mention Murray's absence had nothing to do with the defense, which gave up six touchdowns to the Rams. No doubt about it, the Raiders' chances are slim. But if Murray -- or anyone -- can provide a spark and the Niners offense stalls (they've scored 17 or fewer points in five of their last six games), Oakland will have a shot.
