Washington Redskins tight end Fred Davis has been suspended indefinitely by the NFL for violating the league's substance abuse policy. It was previously reported in January that Davis failed a drug test after testing positive for marijuana and was facing a six-game suspension.

The impending free agent could have a harder time finding a new team after news that Davis will be suspended for at least part of 2014.

Davis was previously suspended for the final four games of the 2011 season for violating the league’s drug policy.
Davis is set to become a free agent on March 11 and this does not bode well for his chances of finding a new team. He missed six games during the 2013 season with an ankle injury and he finished with just 10 catches for 70 yards. It continued a disappointing trend for Davis since his breakout season in 2011, when he had 796 yards in 12 games before sitting with that previously mentioned suspension.
The Redskins gave Davis the franchise tag in 2012 and he played in seven games with 325 yards before tearing his Achilles and missing the rest of the season.
