2014 Super Bowl score: Seahawks fail conversion, still hold 43-8 lead in 4th quarter

The Seattle Seahawks hold a 43-8 lead over the Denver Broncos in the fourth quarter.

SB Nation 2014 NFL Playoff Coverage

Well, the Seattle Seahawks didn't score a touchdown this time out, but they did manage to kill a good bit of clock and hold a 43-8 lead over the Denver Broncos with about five minutes to go in regulation. Seattle's drive ended after a failed fourth-down conversion in Denver territory.

Seattle took over in its own territory, and used Robert Turbin to move the chains and convert a third down and short. A hold call on the ensuing first down set them back, but Russell Wilson managed to pick up a good chunk of yardage on a scramble. Seattle faced another 3rd and 1, but Turbin was unable to convert this one.

They elected to go for it and did not convert, mercifully giving the ball back over to the Broncos.

Denver was moving the ball again on the previous drive, but stalled when a fourth-down conversion attempt failed. That all but sealed things for the Broncos, who managed to score their first points on the previous drive. But they’ve now got two failed fourth-down conversions, a bunch of turnovers and only eight points through three-plus quarters of disaster.
