NFL Combine 2014: Schedule, TV info and preview for Day 7

The defensive back drills take place on Tuesday, the final day of the NFL Combine. Here’s the schedule and TV info.

The 2014 NFL Scouting Combine finishes up on Tuesday as teams gain more clarity on draft prospects than they had coming in. But before everyone packs up and leaves Indianapolis, the defensive backs will perform their on-field workouts.

The defensive backs were the last group to arrive at the Combine. They registered at Indianapolis on Saturday, underwent their measurements and interviews on Sunday and did the bench press on Monday. Now they get to show off their football skills in the position drills.

The top cornerback in this year’s class is Michigan State’s Darqueze Dennard and he should show well in position drills. The big thing to watch on him is his speed and how quick the 5’11 prospect moves to make up for his relatively short stature. Smaller cornerbacks can be successful in the pros, but they typically have above average speed. Lacking ideal size and speed can be hard to overcome against NFL receivers.

Ha Ha Clinton-Dix of Alabama and Calvin Pryor of Louisville are the top two safeties this year and the workouts on Tuesday will be an opportunity for each to get a leg up. Pryor is considered the more aggressive and physical tackler, while Clinton-Dix has the edge on ball skills. The big drill to keep an eye on will be the speed turn drill. The drill is designed to test the players' coverage ability. They will be required to backpedal and change directions multiple times, all while keeping eyes on the coach running the drill. The drill will give an indication as to whether each player has the fluidity to be an asset in coverage or if he will be a liability.

Once again, the day’s events will be broadcast on NFL Network. Coverage begins at 9 a.m. ET and runs until 8 p.m.
